Serving Brighton MA (zip code 02135) and the neighboring areas

A proud yet distinct neighborhood of Boston, Brighton can trace its history back to the 1600’s, when it was known as Watertown. Various other names came and went (including being a part of Cambridge, then Little Cambridge.) In 1807, the name Brighton was established (see box below for more on this story), and in 1873, the Town of Brighton voted to annex itself to Boston, officially becoming a neighborhood of the city.

The town has had its share of history, including being one of the leading providers of meat for the continental army. The mix of industry, history, and residences is still present today, making Brighton a diverse area for a roofer to work. That’s the reason Daniel M Fox Restoration Inc. is well known to area residents and businesses. A Beef that led to Brighton

We mentioned the beef industry being important to Brighton, but it’s also responsible for its name. When the war ended, Little Cambridge residents Jonathan Winship I and Jonathan Winship II oversaw the largest meat packing operation in Massachusetts. When the town of Cambridge made decisions detrimental to the cattle industry (including failing to repair the great bridge), Little Cambridge got upset, and in true Bostonian fashion, broke away and renamed itself Brighton in 1807. How’s that for an independent spirit?
